We stand by our Cypriot brothers in their struggle for the reunification of Cyprus, Greek PM says

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the Turkish invasion in Cyprus on Saturday, twitted a bloodied map of the occupied areas of Cyprus.

“Fourty-five years have passed. We do not forget the victims of the Cypriot Hellenism. We always stand by our Cypriot brothers in their struggle for the reunification of Cyprus”, the Greek PM wrote on Twitter.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37% of its territory. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results. The last round of negotiations, in the summer of 2017, at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana ended inconclusively.
