The Municipality of Famagusta and the Coordinating Committee of Famagusta Organisations met on Wednesday to discuss ways to react to Turkish machinations regarding the town, which has remained uninhabited since the 1974 Turkish invasion of the island.
Speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, which was also attended by MPs, Famagusta Mayor Simos Ioannou said he briefed the organisations about actions since he was elected in August and efforts underway to avert Turkish schemes.
Ioannou welcomed the huge turnout at the meeting, noting that interesting views were voiced.
