President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades said he hoped Turkey will realise that peace, justice and mutual understanding is preferable for progress instead of arbitrary actions, threats and turmoil.
Addressing the Senior Citizens of Cyprus organisation’s conference on Monday, President Anastasiades said his life aim is to create the conditions necessary for a solution to the Cyprus problem that will be based on mutual respect, the principles and values of the UN and the EU.
The President said that the UNSG has acknowledged that the system of guarantees on the island is an anachronism.
