Cyprus issue on the agenda of Syllouris – Lajčák meeting

The impasse of the efforts for the solution to the Cyprus problem is the outcome of Turkey’s intransigence and non-constructive attitude President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris has said to Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajčák, who is paying a two-day  working visit to Cyprus.
According to a press release issued by the Parliament, Syllouris stressed that Turkey insists on its occupying troops to remain on the island even after a solution of the Cyprus problem is reached.
The Slovak Foreign Minister reiterated his country`s firm position on the solution of the Cyprus problem on the basis of the relevant United Nations resolutions, while conveying Slovakia`s readiness to contribute in any way to the promotion of dialogue in this direction.
