The importance of setting a Europol Innovation Lab, stressed by Cypriot justice Minister at JHA Council

The importance of setting up an "Innovation Lab at Europol, involving the law enforcement authorities of the Member States and the academic community, to monitor and analyze new threats and develop technological solutions in collaboration with the private sector", was emphasized in his intervention to the Council of Ministers of Justice and Home Affairs, Minister of Justice and Public Order, George Savvides.

The Minister said in his speech, that the Innovation Lab "will thus provide support to Member States and maximize their capacity to meet new challenges".

According to the Ministry`s announcement, the use of new technologies such as 5G networks, artificial intelligence and unmanned aircraft, as well as addressing new challenges in maintaining internal security, have been at the center of Justice Ministers` discussions over day of the work of the EU Justic
