Turkey is unready and reluctant to discuss in detail the termination of its guarantees and intervention rights or the withdrawal of its occupation troops from Cyprus, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou stressed in a speech at an event organized on Thursday in Paris by the Cypriot Union in France.

Speaking at the event on the recent developments in the Cyprus problem and the prospects for a solution, and the Cypriot - French relations, Prodromou referred to the initiative currently underway and the exploratory mission of the UN Secretary General`s special envoy on Cyprus Jane Holl Lute.

Prodromou said that the UN Secretary-General`s willingness to continue the negotiations is important to us, provided that the preconditions exist for a positive outcome.
