Presidential Commissioner Photis Photiou has thanked Iran for its support to efforts made by the Government of Cyprus to end Turkish occupation and reunify the island through a viable and comprehensive settlement, in line with the relevant UN Security council resolutions and EU law, values and principles.

"A solution that will safeguard the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Cyprus, without foreign guarantees and intervention. It is of utmost importance that reunified Cyprus continues to playing its role as a purveyor of stability, prosperity and a crossroad for cooperation in the wider Middle East region", Photiou said, in remarks during a reception on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.
