Jellyfish spotted in north and northwest coasts of Cyprus, public advised to be vigilant

Pelagia noctiluca jellyfish were spotted in the north and northwest coasts of Cyprus and the department of fisheries and marine research has issued warning for the public advising the beachgoers to be vigilant.

The department in its announcement points out that if the jellyfish come into contact with the human skin, irritations are caused which vary from person to person. The public is urged to notify the lifeguards if they spot any jellyfish in the sea.
