CNA - Cyprus/NICOSIA 10/10/2018 12:49

The residents of Turkish occupied Morphou seek the help of the UN Security Council’s five permanent members in order for a solution to be reached in the Cyprus problem.

A Morphou delegation, headed by Morphou Mayor Victoras Hadjiavraam handed over on Wednesday a resolution protesting the Turkish occupation of Morphou to the embassies of the United States, Russia, China, France and the British High Comission.

The Turkish army invaded Cyprus on July 20, 1974, and launched the second phase of the invasion on August 14 of the same year, occupying the best part of Mesaoria, Famagusta, Karpasia and Morphou.
