Green Dot says fees paid by local authorities will be reduced as of January 2018
CNA - CYPRUS/Limassol 02/10/2017 19:15

The fees paid by Local Authorities to Green Dot Cyprus for services provided to them for collecting and sorting paper for recycle purposes such as newspapers, cartons, magazines, brochures etc will be reduced by 50% from January 1, 2018, Head of the Board of Directors Michalis Spanos has said.

Speaking on Monday at a press conference for the 3rd Limassol Environment and Recycling Festival which will take place next Saturday, Spanos explained that the only financial obligation of the Municipalities and Community Councils to Green Dot arises from the fact that it is not stated in the law that the paper producers have an obligation to collect the non packaging paper. That is the reason, he explained, that the local authorities have turned to Green Dot for collecting and sorting procedures.
Spanos explained that as part of the economic policy of Green Dot along with the fact that Cyprus economy is improving , the company has initially proceeded with a 5% reduction in the fees of about 980 companies and as of January 1, there will be a reduction of 50% for the fees the local authorities pay for the paper collection from non packaged products.

According to Spanos, the annual fees the local authorities pay to the company is estimated to be 800.000 euro and now it will be cut to half.
He expressed hope that in the future the company will be in position to make further reductions .
