Green Dot recycling resumes in Geroskipou Municipality
CNA - Cyprus/PAFOS 13/09/2017 19:33

A packaging recycling programme in Geroskipou Municipality is set to resume on September 15, 2017, a press release issued here today says.
As part of its drive to reduce waste ending up in the Marathounda landfill site, Geroskipou Municipality has reached an agreement with Green Dot Cyprus for the collection of recyclable packaging within its boundaries from central points of collection, where the public will deposit them.
The programme will be implemented on a pilot basis until the end of the year so that any problems arising thereof or any ways to improve it can be reviewed, the press release adds.
Depending on the outcome, the recycling programme will continue to be implemented provided that both parties, Geroskipou Municipality and Green Dot, so wish.
The waste disposal containers will include blue bins for PMD, brown bins for paper and green bins for glass.
Both the Municipality and Green Dot believe that through good cooperation and the public`s help the programme will be successful and significant quantities of recyclable packaging will be recycled.
Citizens are requested to throw their recyclable waste inside the correct recycling bins, in accordance with the labels on them in order to avoid making a mess and wasting decent material.
For further information, the Geroskipou Municipality`s Health Service can be contacted during office hours at 26962324 and 26961400.
