End of Turkish occupation a strategic aim, Greece says

Turkey continues to blatantly violate international law in Cyprus, provocatively states that it will not comply with rulings, such as the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, and refuses to meet its EU obligations concerning the Republic of Cyprus, Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice Prime Minister Evangelos Venizelos has pointed out.

In a message to mark the 40th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, Venizelos notes that on the other hand the resistance of the Republic of Cyprus has been tested. He said Cyprus is a full member of the EU, is recognised as a strategic partner of third parties, and is an irreplaceable factor of stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.
