There is a clear plan A for Cyprus, that of a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation solution, and there is no plan B, UK High Commissioner in Nicosia, Stephen Lillie, has told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), stressing that “for plan A to succeed the negotiations need to be well prepared, and the public opinion needs to be well prepared” as well.
Turkish warships harass Cypriot fishing boat
Two Turkish warships harassed a Cypriot fishing boat in the early hours of Thursday while it was fishing in international waters between Turkey and Cyprus, in an incident which Cyprus is expected to protest about at UN level. The owner of the fishing boat told CNA that the fishing trawler was in international waters, 16 nautical miles off Turkey’s shores, northern of Apostolos Andreas when two Turkish warships harassed it and asked the captain to leave the area.
Government to announce in September Troodos communities development plan, President says
The government of Cyprus will announce its development plan for the Troodos mountain communities in September, President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades has said.
Addressing on Thursday the "1st Festival of Friendship and Culture, Christos Lazaris", in Vassa Kilaniou village, the President also announced the government`s intention to make good use of the buildings of the Cooperative Banks to the benefit of the communities, for example by housing cultural centers or community councils.

Three Cypriot teams at Europa League play-off stage
Three Cypriot teams, AEK Larnaca, APOEL FC and Apollon Limassol have progressed to Europa League’s play-offs after Thursday’s matches.AEK beat Sturm Graz with an impressive 5-0,  APOEL  Hapoel Beer Sheva with a 3-1, and Apollon lost 1-0 to FC Dynamo Brest but still went home with the ticket to the play-offs with a 4-1 result.The first legs of the play-off stage are set to take place on August 23 and the second legs on August 30.
