The European Council endorses FAC conclusions on Turkey`s illegal drilling and reaffirms its solidarity with Cyprus
The European Council endorses the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) conclusions on Turkey`s illegal drilling and reaffirms its solidarity with Cyprus, according to the conclusions adopted after the first day of the EU leaders Summit in Brussels.
Earlier, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades was expected to thoroughly inform his EU counterparts on the illegal Turkish actions in Cyprus` EEZ, Turkish threats concerning Famagusta and efforts to resume negotiations on the Cyprus problem, requesting the endorsement, at the highest political level, of the Foreign Affairs Council`s relevant conclusions, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromos told the press in Brussels.
Slovenian Foreign Minister in Cyprus for contacts
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Miro Cerar is paying a visit to Cyprus for contacts with the Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides and the President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris. He will also attend a Cyprus-Slovenia business forum.
Cerar’s visit was initially scheduled to start on Thursday, however a technical problem forced the commercial aircraft he was boarding to land in Vienna and his visit was postponed for Friday.
Greek fighter jets take part in last phase of military exercise in Cyprus
Greek F-16 jets took part on Thursday in an exercise of Cyprus` National Guard.
 The last phase of the exercise, dubbed Steel Arrow, took place at Kalo Horio firing range in Larnaca, with the participation of  National Guard’s helicopters and artillery. The F-16 fighters flew over the area along with the National Guard’s Gazelle helicopters.
Cyprus Defence Minister, Savvas Angelides, which attended the last phase of the exercise, told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that the presence of the F-16 jets here is not just a symbolic one.
Athens ready to attend process for a Cyprus settlement once tripartite is finalized, Greek Ambassador tells CNA
Athens is absolutely prepared to attend a process, which will contribute significantly towards a Cyprus settlement, says Greek Ambassador to Cyprus Ilias Fotopoulos, adding however that it is necessary to finalize first the tripartite meeting between the UN Secretary General and the two Cyprus leaders .
In an interview with Cyprus News Agency, on the occasion of the conclusion of his term in Cyprus, Ambassador Fotopoulos notes the readiness of the President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades to enter into dialogue and expresses hope that the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci demonstrates the same willingness.

Tourist arrivals up by 0.9% in September
Tourist arrivals hit a new record high in September 2019 according to the results of the Passengers Survey by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
Αrrivals of tourists reached 524,707 in September 2019 compared to 520,138 in September 2018, recording an increase of 0.9%. September 2019 had the highest volume of tourist arrivals ever recorded in Cyprus during the specific month.
The Statistical Service also announced that more Cypriot residents travelled abroad in September this year compared to the same month of 2018, data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service, on Thursday, show.
Cultural Heritage “youth ambassadors” inauguration ceremony takes place
About 40 young Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots were awarded, on Wednesday evening, the title of cultural heritage “youth ambassador” in a ceremony at the Home of Cooperation, in the Nicosia buffer zone. The youth ambassadors are expected to boost the work of the bicommunal technical committee on cultural heritage both through their input with fresh ideas and by disseminating it to the younger generation.
Cyprus - UK can successfully face any challenge in education in light of Brexit, House President says
Cyprus and the UK can successfully face any challenge and move ahead towards the establishment of a dynamic and vibrant educational and research environment, to the benefit of institutions, students and society as a whole, House President Dimitris Syllouris has said.
In an address on Thursday evening, during an event named #UKalumniCY, at the British High Commissioner’s Residence, Syllouris said that despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Brexit, the House of Representatives works to ensure that citizens shall continue to enjoy the benefits and opportunities of a close relationship between the UK and Cyprus.

We all work and toil for peace and understanding between different cultures and faiths, House President Dimitris Syllouris told a delegation of the Archdiocese of Milan, headed by the Archbishop, Mario Enrico Delpini, during a dinner hosted on Thursday evening in their honor.
Meanwhile, in a House of Representatives press release, President Demetris Syllouris has also said that children’s wellbeing and the careful determination of what policy responses match their best interest should be at the forefront of our considerations as regards migrant children’s right and access to education.
