The annual Schengen report on Cyprus is expected to be formally presented to the Council of the European Union in September, European Commission spokesperson. Markus Lammert, has told CNA. The assessment, based on the Schengen monitoring activities carried out in December 2025, resulted in a positive evaluation of Cyprus' level of technical preparedness, while a European source has clarified that this is not the final report on Cyprus' accession to the Schengen Area, and that work is ongoing.
