EU Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law, and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, said on Wednesday during a debate in the European Parliament Plenary in Strasbourg, on the resolution regarding the detention of EU citizens in the occupied areas of Cyprus, that "the European Union cannot tolerate the violation of its citizens' rights. The detention of these individuals is unacceptable and must end immediately."
