The European Grids Package was presented by the European Commission on Wednesday. The electricity interconnection between Greece and Cyprus, known as Great Sea Interconnector or GSI, is one of the eight priority projects known as "Energy Highways."  The plan is aimed at "strengthening and accelerating the development of the EU's energy infrastructure" and, as the Commission states, it "forms part of a broader strategy to achieve energy independence, competitiveness, and climate neutrality by 2050."
