Αverage precipitation in January so far, was at 47% of the seasonal level in the government-controlled areas of the Republic, according to preliminary data released on Wednesday by the Department of Meteorology.
According to the data, precipitation between January 1 and 14 was at 47.8 millimeters, compared with 102.4 millimeters, which is the average rainfall for the month.
Total rainfall from October 1, the start of the water year, until January 14, reached 207 millimetres, corresponding to 70% of the average level for this period (294 millimetres).
The highest amount rainfall in January to-date was recorded at the Pano Panagia station with 121.6 millimeters, which corresponds to 79% of the season average for that station, followed by Platania with 124.1 millimeters (66%), the Stavros tis Psokas area with 108.1 millimeters (65%), the Prodromos area with 96.6 millimeters (49%), and the Polis Chrysochous and Athalassa stations with 46.7 millimeters (48%) and 23 millimeters (48%) respectively.
