The increasing role of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in the defense sector, as well as Europe’s reinforcement amid instability caused by the Middle East crisis, was highlighted by EIB Group President Nadia Calviño in response to a question from CNA at the Bank’s Forum in Luxembourg during a closed meeting with journalists. Ongoing discussions with the Ministry of Defense of Cyprus regarding the financing of major investments in both defense and dual-use projects in Cyprus have been confirmed by EIB sources to CNA.
