The European Commission deplores “the clear disrespect shown in the case of Agia Anna”, and regularly raises the importance of safeguarding sites of cultural and religious significance with the Turkish Cypriot community, but its “leverage is limited” in the occupied areas due to the suspension of the aquis in these areas, EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira said responding to a written parliamentary question by Cypriot MEP Demetris Papadakis.
