Cyprus assumed an active and coordinating role in the political deliberations of the EU Informal Competitiveness Council on Research, with Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Nikodemos Damianou participating in the meeting held on 16–17 July in Copenhagen, acting in the capacity of rapporteur. On the sidelines of the Council, a Memorandum of Understanding on Research and Innovation was signed between Cyprus and Malta.
