Five thousand animals, cattle and sheep in a total of six livestock units are affected because of food and mouth disease (FMD), in the district of Larnaca. Veterinary Services director Christodoulos Pipis described the situation as very serious and noted that the possibility of vaccinating animals to combat the virus is under consideration.
