Cyprus has a strong legal framework for the protection of equality, in line with European and international law, however, the existence of legislation is not enough, Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights, Maria Stylianou-Lottides, has said in a written statement on the occasion of March 21, International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
