A discussion on the proposal to amend the carbon dioxide emissions standards for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (vans) took place on Tuesday at the EU Environment Council in Brussels, with Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, who chaired the session as Cyprus currently holds the EU rotating Presidency, noting that the European automotive industry is a key sector that faces a number of challenges as regards its competitiveness.
